Sorry about the spotting posting. Not only being busy, holidays, and some youtube issues, I haven’t been able to get you good updates lately! That should all be taken care of. Spent this morning fixing the bugs in the program so I can upload more stuff for you! Here is one from Raleigh, one of the first dates on Cory’s tour!
Yep. You read that right. Cory went to Alaska and the whole diner fell to crap. Some virus-buggy-glitch thing killed it. We think is was Hamass…or NBC. Hard to say, really. All I know, is that it was kinda like the ‘Hot Zone’ but, on the internet, and with a cool sounding alt-folk-country soundtrack.
We tried to contact Cory desperately with Smoke Signals and Carrier Pidgeons, but, Alaska is an awful far ways to travel for birds, let alone, smoke. Some one came up with the idea, I believe it was Boogie, to text him. We did. He mobilized, and got stuff done. He used his cell phone to hack into the mainframe and did battle with MPC (Master Control Program), raced a motorcycle across the grid, then came back to reality and blew up the offending bunker with a bazooka.

So, it’s your treat. Tell me what you want for St. Patty’s day and it’s yours. Videos, songs, etc. Only comments to this post will be considered.
Private Viewable by you and up to 25 other people
In other news, and not to be a pain, but, I have reduced the number of Cory Branan videos on my youtube account. I haven’t taken them off, mind you, just reduced their number, by hiding some private. Having private videos is a funny thing because only 25 people can ever see them, and you get to select those people. Funny enough, you have to have a youtube account. So if you want to see the following videos again, hit me on youtube, and I’ll give the first 25 people who request it access:
Hopefully some of you Memphibians, and non Memphis folks, will make it out to the Folk Alliance to see Cory play a couple of shows in the coming days. If you can’t get into the Folk Alliance shows, Cory is kicking it at ‘Otherlands’ on the 22nd, I believe. All the details are at the site if you are interested…and lest ye forget Cory’s Myspace.
I have made notes of the request line, and I’m quite open to more. I forget sometimes that people haven’t been here since the beginning and miss the downloads from time to time, so, I’ll put up different versions so that it’s not boring for the folks who already have said material.
In the meantime, I’ve been sent by the awesome Brian Mann, a full length show form the November Colorado shows. I played around with this one, so, I’m welcoming commentary.
I remember in March, several years ago, when I first met Mr. B he was asking us what we wanted to hear him play (as a matter of fact, right after this song on this night). I asked him, “Play a song that you like to play.” He, in turn, played this song. I almost fell over on the curb. It cracked me up quite nicely. I wish I had recorded it then, but, this will have to do.
According to Mr. Branan and agreed upon by many others, myself included…this could be one of the most simply brilliant lines of all time. I had heard rumors about a Lucero Tribute album. On the offhand I asked Cory what he would do, and he said this song. I flipped out, ’cause, if I was picking songs for Cory to cover, this would totally be THE ONE. So, this comes from the lovely folks at Hardcore Troubadours, and it’s a cut from their Cory Branan/Ben Nichols podcast. If you don’t have it, or didn’t get it, hop on over there and download it. You might just get a chance to hear Ben Nichols of Lucero cover a Cory song.
Now that we’ve got the nice stuff out of the way, let’s get on to business! Cory is TOURING ALASKA! What the hell, yeah? I see it now. Northern Lights. Igloos. Eskimos. Reindeer. I think all the blonde hair references of Cory’s music may just escape them! In all seriousness, I think this is astounding…and super cool. This is straight from the Branan Blogs:

Cory will be playing several shows in Alaska in early May and those detais will be posted soon. Also, we’re planning on playing select cities in the SE in April.
I gotta couple of plans for the new year, and I’ll tune you in. Keep on supporting Cory, the Diner, Brian Mann, and Jesus. All things which people love.
It’s a new year! I hope your 2008 is off to a good start, and if your 2007 was ready for an end (like mine), 2008 is very welcome. So what do we here at LCD bring you? That’s right, old new stuff. I was given this video by the lovely Brian Mann, and it’s another from Boulder Colorado. This time, though, it’s a brand-spanking-new song. Survivor Blues.
We got some exciting new stuff for you, so stay tuned…and happy friday diners.
Yeah, it’s been a long time. If you had two bottles of whisky and a carton of cigarettes, I’d catch you up right quick on all the reasons, but, mainly the hambones of country songs…and I’ll leave it at that. So, fear not Plank10!
I’ve got some ideas for a December contest and a coupla articles, but, that would mean actually doing work, and I’m not quite there yet. There are Christmas trees to erect and hugs to receive. I will give you this nice video of Jon Snodgrass from Drag The River and our own, Cory Branan, playing Tall Green Grass.
