When Cory has finished and had his fill with the rabid KISS fans, and thwarted the KISS ARMY with intellectual sentence structure, he’s fightin’ off Belle and Sebastian fans on Youtube. Well, maybe he isn’t, but, I used to delete all the comments from Emo-tards and B&S purists, who cannot appreciate Cory’s version of this song. I stopped after a while, figuring, well, at least they watched it! So, if you feel so, comment on the youtube version and fight the power. Either way, we win…cause it’s one hell of a cover, I think.
Cory Branan loves and supports Nuclear power. The night before he had played Charlotte, which this was probably about exactly 12 hours pre-tour of the nuclear power plant known as Sheron Harris.
Truth be told, I think we both were pretty sketchy on going on a tour of the place. I had it booked before he got here in March, and we were supposed to go on tour with like 10 or 12 other people, but, come 10am…we were the only ones there. The lady was quite surprised, as she admitted that she didn’t think we would be the ones who made it, but she let us walk around for a spell. This is the entrance to the interactive area:
We played with the tests and the ‘interactive’ displays. It was pretty cool to see that something as small as say something this big [ ] was the energy equivalent of 2 tons of coal or like 3 - 50 Gallon drums of oil. It was just nuts, and the only by product, aside from some semi-reactive waste was steam. This came from the cooling tower shown here:
She, the tour lady, then pointed us to a huge screening room where we watched this VIDEO which we did. We had some questions, she gave us some nuclear waste pellets, but, wouldn’t let me keep them. We then, kind of mistakenly, went to see the cooling tower on the tour lady’s suggestion. Her quote was something like, “Go down take a left, but, don’t get too close. The guards like to have some ‘action’.” This originally scared us, simply because as you walk in there is a 6 foot poster of a guard with an M16 and bulletproof armor…but, we were like ’screw it’ and went to see that thing. It must have been 50 Foot Tall, or more…well, a lot more, probably.
In all seriousness, this guard jeep came flying down the road once we got near the barbed wire. So we whipped around and drove steady out to go play wii boxing with the lovely energy that the plant provided.
Since tomorrow is my birthday, and I’m not really certain what kinda time I’ll have, I’ve been holding back on a find for you, and well, you can have it today vs. having it tomorrow, and it’s a simple triple shot-o-branan. I got permission from the Person/Radio Station to use these so, check’em out.
Cory Branan…Ben Nichols…tour…southeast. Jackson, MS to Louisville, KY…between May 30th to June 10th…hitting several places in-between…including Memphis…Nashville. You heard it here first.
Okay, so video mondays. I’m just going back these days and calling up some oldies but goodies. I hope to our dear Lord that this one is on the new ablum. I’d love to hear it fully produced and such. So, I think we make demands that this one get on…for certain. Amoung all the others, i.e. Ballad of a Bad Man, Walkaround, etc. Any others you’d like to see on the next album? Comment, people.
Oh, and I hope y’all like the free download last week. That was a special from Ben Trickey, or BenT on the forums. He does and has, some really quality work, and I thank him muchly for sharing those wonderful tunes with us.
Definitely keep up the great stories in the forum. They are pretty fun to read, and heck, if I can think of some more, we will keep the thread alive. Is there any requests for videos/audios (aside from the Angel Synthesizer one…it’s coming, Nate)? I’m gonna try out that mp3/video ripper thing. I downloaded it last week, but, I have yet to play with it. If there are some audios from the videos you’ve seen here, say the word…and I’ll try and work it out.
Well, I’ve been listing to this song for most of the week. Or should I say that the iPod mass-shuffle gods select this track more than any other. It features Cory Branan, and one of my favorite folks yelling out requests. I was actually listening to this very song that inspired me to do this:
I’m at home today with the lil’ miss, so while she was down for an afternoon nap, I checked out the movie ‘ATL‘. Couldn’t stop thinking about ‘Skateland South’ comparisons, and well, it was a decent movie. It would be like if you took Hustle & Flow, added a dash of You Got Served, and set it in a Rollerskating Rink in Atlanta Georgia. Great flick…check it out.
In other news, Cory’s myspace has been pimped. Some really nice graphics, new pictures, and a link to the diner. You can quick launch there by the right side bar.
Alrighty…enjoy the download…and again, suggestions are welcome.
Well, as strange as that may seem, it’s true. Cory does a wonderful job here covering Mr. Lyle Lovett. I am veryist sorry that I missed the download this past week, however, I’ll try to get something ready today for wednesday. They still, for the time being, will be from YouSendit as we want to keep the availability as limited as possible, cause some of this stuff will probably only see the light of day here. So definitely feel special and download until your heart is content.
Since the video tabs thing was tossed out the window by the lovely JVC Corporation, I had suddenly remembered yesterday that a good friend of mine, Andy Bilinski showed me how to play Miss Ferguson on the guitar. Mine is terribly out of tune at the moment, and Andy is actually a musician, so whether he knows it or not, he’s been officially volunteered. Definitely check him out…be his friend, etc. Great guy.
Let’s see in other news, HurricaneNatalie has offered to snap videos at the next Cory show she goes off to see. I think that would be wonderful, and if anyone else wants to do that, by all means let’s do it! I can help you edit them, or do it for you if you like. The more we get out there, the happier everyone else is gonna be.
And y’all are awful quiet. So please make yon views and opinions known. Positive or negative. Oh and requests for things are taken very seriously, so please, make those known as well.
