LCD has been under attack by NBC and Hamass!

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Yep. You read that right. Cory went to Alaska and the whole diner fell to crap. Some virus-buggy-glitch thing killed it. We think is was Hamass…or NBC. Hard to say, really. All I know, is that it was kinda like the ‘Hot Zone’ but, on the internet, and with a cool sounding alt-folk-country soundtrack.

We tried to contact Cory desperately with Smoke Signals and Carrier Pidgeons, but, Alaska is an awful far ways to travel for birds, let alone, smoke. Some one came up with the idea, I believe it was Boogie, to text him. We did. He mobilized, and got stuff done. He used his cell phone to hack into the mainframe and did battle with MPC (Master Control Program), raced a motorcycle across the grid, then came back to reality and blew up the offending bunker with a bazooka.

Cory Mobilized

For real.

More on NBC later.

Love you all,

and welcome back to the fold.

Test

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

This is your host. I suck for not fixing the site sooner. Anyway here is a test post to make sure it’s all working.

Continuing the Cover

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I remember in March, several years ago, when I first met Mr. B he was asking us what we wanted to hear him play (as a matter of fact, right after this song on this night). I asked him, “Play a song that you like to play.” He, in turn, played this song. I almost fell over on the curb. It cracked me up quite nicely. I wish I had recorded it then, but, this will have to do.

Anything you want to hear? See? Find?

2 Times.

Monday, January 28th, 2008

According to Mr. Branan and agreed upon by many others, myself included…this could be one of the most simply brilliant lines of all time. I had heard rumors about a Lucero Tribute album. On the offhand I asked Cory what he would do, and he said this song. I flipped out, ’cause, if I was picking songs for Cory to cover, this would totally be THE ONE. So, this comes from the lovely folks at Hardcore Troubadours, and it’s a cut from their Cory Branan/Ben Nichols podcast. If you don’t have it, or didn’t get it, hop on over there and download it. You might just get a chance to hear Ben Nichols of Lucero cover a Cory song.

Now that we’ve got the nice stuff out of the way, let’s get on to business! Cory is TOURING ALASKA! What the hell, yeah? I see it now. Northern Lights. Igloos. Eskimos. Reindeer. I think all the blonde hair references of Cory’s music may just escape them! In all seriousness, I think this is astounding…and super cool. This is straight from the Branan Blogs:

The Long Awaited Video

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Sorry for the long delay of posting, etc. I’ve been in San Francisco on business all of last week. Saw the bay where hearts get washed up on black rocks, and the like. Beautiful…chilly. All in all, very nice.

Yeah, I’d love to get right down to the nitty gritty viddy, but, there is some buzz in the Branan Camp. There is said to possibly be some sort of television spot kind of thing in the works. The likeliness of this happening is kinda slim, but, it’s still to my knowledge, a possibility. So those of you who know about the VH1 show several years back (and if you don’t, surprise there was a pilot!) I’m currently working on getting that up here in time, and we could possibly see something of the same ilk ‘fore too long.

Those of you who are going to Mucklewain, please be safe and have fun. Get some videos, mp3s, pictures, whatever…and send them on in!

So, with permission, and get it while it lasts…Cory on Carson:

On a related note, I’d like to know how you feel about the autoplay feature. So please comment either positively or negatively. Doesn’t matter to me much, but, if it’s annoying, or you like it, make a comment.

All the best,

management.

*PS - A big shout out to Wayne Voit for fighting the good fight with the crazies over at some other message board that wouldn’t know what good music was if it was killing their ficus tree while simultaneously pouring sugar in their gas tank.

Couldn’t take no more of that Rock-n-Roll…

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Happy July 4th, y’all.

Apologies for being so busy. Soon the video embedding will be done all in site, according to Mr. Rodeo. I did have the pleasure of spending some time with the boys from Two Cow Garage, whom, are super huge Cory Branan fans. So check them out, and their new record III is pretty damned genius. They will be playing with Cory up north somewhere, so if you get a chance to make it to that show…it’s a must-go.

Well, this is a good July 4th song in general. So play it today, give a listen…have fun…be safe.

Special Thanks to Nate and Plank10

Friday, June 15th, 2007

A big thank you to Nate for sending me some great videos (3 songs I believe) from the Ben Nichols / Cory Branan tour. I’m gonna play around with the video to lighten it up, etc. Then post it on monday. So you will have another buffet du Branan come then. If I can clean the audio, you can have that as well, since, I think Nate would have wanted it that way.

A super big thanks to Plank10 for providing y’all with the Tall Green Grass Download earlier this week. I think it’s great that you both are willing to share, and truly it’s what will keep this place going in the long run. It is definitely the most interesting version I’ve heard, so if you haven’t gotten it, you need to…quickly…time is running out.

Big love to the man upstairs, Mom, and Baby Jesus.

…like I was Courtney Love, er somethin’

Cory Branan loves and supports Nuclear power. The night before he had played Charlotte, which this was probably about exactly 12 hours pre-tour of the nuclear power plant known as Sheron Harris.

Truth be told, I think we both were pretty sketchy on going on a tour of the place. I had it booked before he got here in March, and we were supposed to go on tour with like 10 or 12 other people, but, come 10am…we were the only ones there. The lady was quite surprised, as she admitted that she didn’t think we would be the ones who made it, but she let us walk around for a spell. This is the entrance to the interactive area:

We played with the tests and the ‘interactive’ displays. It was pretty cool to see that something as small as say something this big [ ] was the energy equivalent of 2 tons of coal or like 3 - 50 Gallon drums of oil. It was just nuts, and the only by product, aside from some semi-reactive waste was steam. This came from the cooling tower shown here:

Cooling Tower

She, the tour lady, then pointed us to a huge screening room where we watched this VIDEO which we did. We had some questions, she gave us some nuclear waste pellets, but, wouldn’t let me keep them. We then, kind of mistakenly, went to see the cooling tower on the tour lady’s suggestion. Her quote was something like, “Go down take a left, but, don’t get too close. The guards like to have some ‘action’.” This originally scared us, simply because as you walk in there is a 6 foot poster of a guard with an M16 and bulletproof armor…but, we were like ’screw it’ and went to see that thing. It must have been 50 Foot Tall, or more…well, a lot more, probably.

In all seriousness, this guard jeep came flying down the road once we got near the barbed wire. So we whipped around and drove steady out to go play wii boxing with the lovely energy that the plant provided.

Lord bless Nuclear power.
